I’m a handpicked and recommended photographer at over 20 venues across Kent. Here is a collection of venues that I support and love to work with.
It all started back in 2010 when I purchased my first serious camera and took photos for fun, I soon realised I had an eye for it and decided to take on my first wedding for a friend. To say I was nervous would be an understatement! After looking back though the photos and receiving lots of great feedback I decided this was something I really enjoyed, I love to work with people and have a natural drive to be creative, what followed was the making of Steve Barber Wedding Photography and boy it’s been one incredible ride!
The incredible people I meet are a huge part of why I choose to photograph weddings. As a creative wedding photographer in Kent, my motivation is driven by a blend of vision, human connection, and the ability to capture priceless memories. Each wedding I capture is a part of someones journey, a day full of emotion and all the feels. It’s a privilege to be chosen by couples to document the love that brings them together.
My biggest tip to finding a wedding photographer that’s right for you is to find someone who’s work stops you in your tracks and has you wanting to see more, make sure they are some one you feel relaxed and comfortable around. No one likes uncomfortable, posey photos, instead I would much rather give you gentle direction that’s fun and engaging to create genuine, unposed moments between you both.
I photograph weddings using an unobtrusive approach, you will be having far too much fun enjoying yourself to even notice i’m there most of the day. I believe it’s more important to capture the actual story of your wedding day, and the real moments rather than directing things. A natural photo of you air punching because you’re finally married is way more precious than you fake laughing because the photographer told you to laugh on command.
I can’t think of anything worse than posing you for every shot we take. My approach is incredibly simple… I will give you gentle direction have some fun together and let you be you. Most of the time my couple portraits are done when we have the better light and that’s usually at the golden hour. This magical light happens when we catch the sun on its way down (usually an hour before sunset) it’s the most amazing light and the perfect time for us to capture gorgeous portraits of you both.
Ultimately, being a wedding photographer is about more than just taking pictures. It’s about witnessing and documenting one of the most important moments of people’s lives, helping them remember the magic the moments and love they felt on their wedding day. It’s about using my creativity and ability to capture real moment’s to make people happy – a responsibility I deeply appreciate.
